PROJECT PEARL
Project Pearl was created by Pearl Star when we identified a lot of working-class families with difficulty meeting the basic necessities daily life, and subsequently send children to school hungry, poorly dressed and without lunch. Project Pearl identifies and helps these families in our community by providing them with food hampers on a monthly basis. The funds they save can then be used in other household areas, or go towards school fees and clothes. We have appealed to schools in the North Coast region to assist in identifying and distributing these hampers to disadvantaged families. During special occasions in the year, we give out about 1000 or more hampers, trying to reach as many families as possible.
The following schools receive between 50 to 100 hampers a month from Pearl Star.
- Trenance Park Secondary
- RA Padayachee Primary
- Mount View Secondary
- Acacia Primary
We are always seeking out new schools to join our project.
